OP-CO: A Legacy of Excellence in Marine Services

In 2022, Alex O'Connell and Tom Puddy founded OP-CO - a marine services company based in Southampton. They envisioned a company that would strive to provide a professional engineering solutions company with a focus on quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.

Alex had always been passionate about boats and a life on the water was always the plan. He grew up on the south coast, spending most of his childhood sailing and exploring the coastline. After joining the Merchant Navy at 16 he worked as a marine engineer, rising through the ranks to Chief Engineer for several years before deciding to start his own venture.

Tom has been involved in the Marine industry since he left school. Working in the Luxury cruise sector before transitioning to private yachts, Tom rose to the position of Chief Electrician. Together, they set out to create a company that would provide exceptional marine services while also promoting sustainable practices and environmental responsibility.

As demand for services grew, OP-CO has expanded its services to include maintenance and repair projects, marine electronics installation and AVIT services.  We have established a loyal customer base and earned a reputation for delivering exceptional results every time.

Today, OP-CO is a thriving business with a team of 12 employees and various freelance and subcontracted workers. Alex and Tom are at the helm, driving the company forward with their passion for boats and dedication to quality. 

In the end, OP-CO's legacy will be one of excellence in marine services and a commitment to preserving the beauty of the sea. We have showcased what is possible when you combine skill, passion, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
